Natural Dog Food

Natural dog food has many benefits. Many people are not aware that commercial dog food contains a huge amount of additives as well as low quality ingredients. Even the most expensive canned foods do not contain high quality meats and although they are better than cheap supermarket brands, it is considerably more affordable and also healthier to prepare your own meals for your pet.

Dogs are not pure carnivores like cats are. They can also consume carbohydrates and vegetables. Many people are now preparing their own dog food and it does not take long at all. It can also prove to be much cheaper than buying commercial foods.

Which Meats Are Best for Your Dog?

Chicken is one of the best meats for your dog. Rabbit can also suffice. There are arguments for and against feeding dogs the same livestock that humans consume such as beef and pork. There is no doubt that pork is not healthy for a dog and whilst they can consume beef, it is still best to stick with lighter meats like chicken.

Raw Meat

Always give your dog raw meat, but ensure that it is free from contamination. Treat the meat as you would as if it were for human consumption. Cooked meat can be dangerous for dogs, it is not as nutritious and of course if there are bones this can be a great concern. Never give a dog cooked bones; they will however enjoy chewing on raw chicken wings and necks.

It is very easy to prepare your dog's meals. Simply keep the raw meat in one container, cook up some rice or pasta with vegetables and store it in another. You can make several meals worth at once and then just give your dog a suitable portion at each meal time.

Your dog's teeth can be kept clean with raw bones, rather than resorting to dry foods which contain many unhealthy additives.

A dog that is fed a natural dog food diet will be healthier, brighter, more active and of course happier!
